PERSONAL STATEMENT
Creating art, putting down my mark is my reaffirmation of Self. Our own time and space, conditioned by history and memory, confuse the consciousness which can result in experiencing selflessness. My work explores my roots in the prairie landscape and in past myths.

My work is figure narrative based. Besides working with the beauty and subtleties of the prairie, my work takes on a more personal interpretation. I explore our roots and the spirit of life on the prairies. The footprints of the hard-working men and women of the past have long disappeared, but the impressions of many lifetimes, breaking and working the land, have remained with us across this vast country in our rich agricultural prairie land.

I also draw my inspiration from past myths, symbolic and archeological images of the ancient Goddess, and from time and the events that define it. Using these powerful images together with the figure, I develop personal statements that reflect life experiences. With these symbolic images and the human form I wish to merge myth and time with today’s reality.

I am inspired by modern sciences, history, myth and nature, and as the poet Walt Whitman said, “I lie abstracted, and hear beautiful tales of things, and reasons of things. They are so beautiful, I nudge myself to listen”.
