HISTORY
Hazel Yates resides in Dauphin, Manitoba. She has an interest in painting flowers and pastoral scenes. Although she enjoys working in a variety of mediums, she depicts these subjects primarily in watercolours, preferring the transparency of the medium and the little surprise it yields.
Primarily a self-taught artists, she regularly attends workshops in Dauphin conducted by faculty members of the School of Fine Arts from the University of Manitoba. As well she completed a 12 month course through the North Light Art School in 1992. She has also participated in the Artist's Retreat at the Riding Mountain Conference Centre, Riding Mountain Park and at the Manitoba Holiday Festival of the Arts, Neepawa, Manitoba.
Hazel has been an active member of the Dauphin Art Group for many years. She continues to exhibit her work throughout Manitoba and has won numerous awards at various group and juried shows. Her work has been purchased by both corporate and private collectors.
